Erin Morris — Instructor Profile

About Erin Morris

From an early age, Ms. Morris knew she wanted a career in forensic science, specifically crime scene investigation. At the age of fifteen, she began to establish that career path by joining the Clay County Sheriff’s Office as a part-time member. She maintained her employment through the remainder of her education and was able to gain an internship within their Crime Scene Unit.

After graduating with honors from the University of Central Florida in the spring of 2009 with a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology, she gained full-time employment with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office and held various positions. In the summer of 2010, she was able to utilize her time and experience to secure a position as a Crime Scene Technician.

While serving as a Crime Scene Technician, Ms. Morris worked thousands of calls which encompassed hundreds of deaths. Based on her leadership skills and knowledge, she was asked train her peers as a Field Training Officer, as well as instruct incoming deputies for their agency through varying crime scene related courses. Her ability to instruct and train others was recognized while working to earn her Certificate of Proficiency in Crime Scene Investigation, as well as a second Certificate of Proficiency in Homicide Investigation. She was approached in the spring of 2016 to also share her knowledge with external agencies, and soon began serving as an Adjunct Instructor for the Institute of Police Technology and Management

In March of 2019, Ms. Morris became employed with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) as a Crime Laboratory Analyst in the Crime Scene Investigation Section. The Jacksonville Regional Operations Center of FDLE responds to major crime scenes within thirteen counties across Northeast Florida, which mainly consist of homicides and officer involved shootings. Though it was hard to depart from the agency in which she grew up, she is still working in the career field she loves and fulfilling her dreams.
